How To Create Amazing Spaces With Wooden Bedroom Furniture
Decor trends come and go, and yet, there are certain interior stalwarts that always seem to be in vogue. Or, if not in vogue, in the YOU or Good Housekeeping at least. Jokes! All kidding aside - there are certain furniture types that just always seem to work. This includes wooden bedroom furniture.
At Bed King, we’ve assisted countless clients to find wooden beds and bedroom accessories to create beautiful spaces in their homes. As such, we’ve learned quite a few valuable tricks of the trade over the years. Here are some insider insights to bear in mind when you shop for wooden bedroom furniture:
Which Other Wooden Elements Are There?
If your bedroom already has a wooden floor or cupboards, it’s normally best to look for furniture that’s made from a type of wood that would go well with these existing elements. See, not all wood types work together, and you get such a large variety. From teak to oak and mahogany, there is dark, light, warmly hued, and those that fall on the ‘colder’ of the colour spectrum.
Our recommendation is to take some pictures and take it along to show the sales personnel at the store where you intend to buy your wooden furniture. Try to take it in good light, and without any filters that might change the look and feel of the wood. You could also take pictures at different times of day - e.g. in the morning with natural light, and at night with the overhead lights on.
Are You Ready To Maintain Wooden Furniture?
Wooden furniture requires quite a bit of TLC. It has to be dusted on a regular basis, and any stains or spills should be tended to with dishwashing soap and lukewarm water. Wooden furniture oil should also be applied from time to time - but not too often, otherwise, it might rub off on clothing, etc. As long as you tick these boxes, your furniture will last you a long time.
‘The Rules’ Are Just Suggestions
Interior design ‘rules’ are actually just suggestions. In the end, it all comes down to what you like. So if wooden furniture appeals to your personal sense of aesthetic, go for it! Your home is your sanctuary, so every design choice you make should be making it more comfortable and beautiful for you - no one else.
This is why it’s often a good idea to put down the magazines and click away from the Pinterest boards, and just pick something that you really like.
