5 Small Habits To Keep Your Bedroom Neat & Tidy

Who knew that one very important, yet super boring, part of being a fully-fledged adult human being would be to keep your house clean all the time? It’s really no wonder our mothers kept losing their marbles about the state of our rooms growing up. We get it now...
So, what’s a fun-loving person to do if they want to keep their bedroom neat and tidy, but don’t want to spend the better part of a weekend morning cleaning up? The trick lies in doing five easy things every day, instead of letting it pile up on you. Here’s the list:
Make Your Bed
First of all, studies have shown that making your bed in the morning can literally make you happier. No kidding! The small act of tidying your bed linen, duvet and pillows can actually set you up for a more productive day. It also means that you come home to a tidy bedroom, which is a lot more restful on the eyes. PLUS, when you make your bed every day, you’ll also know when it’s time to do a linen change.
Stash Your Washing
Don’t let dirty clothes pile up in your room - it’s way too depressing! Instead, invest in the simplest solution known to man, namely a laundry basket. This way you only need to pick up the basket and make your way to the washing machine when you’re ready for a wash, instead of having to do a sniff test (gross!) on everything that accumulated over a chair or in the corner of your room.
Leave Your Shoes at The Door
Not all that keen on daily sweeping and/or mopping? Take off your shoes when you enter your house or apartment (or at the very least your room). This way, you won’t track any dirt that accumulated outside into your space.
Declutter
The fewer things you have in your room, the easier it will be to keep it neat and tidy. Keep your surfaces clean and uncluttered by creating storage for items like jewellery, toiletries, etc. Keeping these items stowed away makes it a lot easier to do a daily wipe-down as well.
Get a Plant (or Two!)
Want to improve the air quality in your bedroom? Get a plant, or two, or three! Plants like the peace lily, aloe vera, and rubber plant look really lovely in a room, and can also help to keep the air clear and fresh thanks to their natural biological processes.
