What is more, is that almost 20% of teenagers are accumulating a ‘sleep debt’ - less than required sleep hours despite naps and catch up sleep. This poor sleep pattern is exacerbated by irregular sleep hours over weekends and holidays which causes damage to your natural sleep patterns resulting in ‘poorer’ sleep. However, the study has shown that people, especially teenagers are more likely to fall asleep quicker when they are sleeping on a new more comfortable mattress. Not only are new mattress more likely to be firmer, but the added comfort and orthopedic protection. The study suggested that people could gain as much as 31 minutes of sleeping time by upgrading to a newer, more comfortable mattress as it would allow them to fall asleep quicker.
