7 Tell-tale Signs that it's time for a new Mattress

December 07, 2015

How to Know it is Time for a New Mattress

There comes a morning in every sleeper’s life when it’s time to face the facts – purchasing a new mattress has become a necessity. The only problem is knowing when that time has come. There are several signs indicating that a new mattress is in order, and failing to notice the signs can result in physical discomfort, constant exhaustion, and irritableness. Luckily for you we have highlighted 7 tell-tale signs signalling that it’s time to let go of the old and welcome in the new.

1. You wake up every morning with back pain

Getting up every morning to get your day started is hard enough, but if you are finding that it’s difficult to get up in the morning because of unbearable back pain then it’s time to consider throwing out the old mattresses and purchasing something that provides you with a lot more support.

2. It’s been years since you’ve bought a new mattress

As you grow older your needs change – the mattress you once used in college no longer seems to cater to your body’s needs. Keep in mind that a mattress should be there to provide firm and comfortable support when you sleep. This means that it is not there to be a lifelong friend.

3. You have a better sleep when you’re away from home

Often times we may find that sleeping away from home is unsettling as the bedroom, and surroundings are unfamiliar. However, if you are starting to find that you are having a more comfortable, relaxing and peaceful sleep away from home then it may be time to purchase a mattress that’s even better than the one you slept on when you were away.

4. You start to dread going to bed

When sleeping the body is able to shut down, restore its energy, and calm the mind enough to develop a sense of peace and comfort. There’s nothing worse than lying awake throughout the night, owing to discomfort. When this happens we wake up feeling irritable, tired, and physically drained. If you are finding that this is happening to you and that you are starting to dread going to bed then it’s time to roll in the new sleeping equipment.

5. You can’t seem to get comfortable

Do you toss and turn every night, feeling as if it’s impossible to feel comfortable? It may not be you who’s the problem. This uncomfortable and restless feeling can be fixed by altering your sleeping conditions. Try flipping your mattress and if this doesn’t work, or your mattress is one of those “not to be turned”, then it may be time to change the mattress altogether.

6. Your Mattress feels lumpy

If you are finding that your mattress is lumpy, saggy, or frazzled then it may be time to face the facts – it should be on its way out. A good mattress should provide a comfort level to suit your unique physique. So whether you choose a mattress with a latex foam, memory foam, or a solid foam core, ensure that this caters to your body’s needs.

7. Age before Beauty

As you get older your body may require a firmer mattress in order to combat back pain. It’s also important to remember that your mattress should be changed every 7 to 8 years, as your body may require different things the older you get. When deciding how firm you would like your mattress remember to take into account whether you sleep on your back or on your side. A mattress like the Comfort Solutions Support Plus is always a good option to go for.
