Tired of Sleeping on the Wrong Mattress? PART 2
Tired of Sleeping on the Wrong Mattress? PART 2
A memory foam mattress has the advantage of promoting a restful night’s sleep as it aids in relieving pressure points, which in turn reduce tossing and turning associated with changing positions.
The composition of the mattress offers support and absorbs movement and motion transfer, avoiding partner disturbance.
There are some who say memory foam mattresses have the disadvantage of creating a hotter-than-normal sleep environment, due to the mattress absorbing your body heat and preserving the heat as it softens and moulds to your shape. You may find the mattress harder initially and once in bed it begins to soften. As the seasons change, your mattress changes too, feeling firmer in winter, and softer in the summer.
If you suffer from a medical condition or elderly, you may find it difficult to get in and out of the bed, and may find it challenging to lift the mattress while changing bedding due it being denser than the average foam and innerspring mattresses.
Latex Mattresses
Latex mattresses are somewhat relative to memory foam mattresses in terms of support and structure, but differ in composition and price, and have experienced a sudden surge in popularity due to a more adaptable temperature and ease of changing positions.
Latex mattresses offer more support than memory due to the composition having a more rubber “kick back” than memory foam - which merely moulds to your pressure.
This offers durability and a faster recovery time than memory mattresses. The reduction of heat and temperature make it ideal for summer sleeping, whereas a memory foam may be too hot for many.
The latex composition is less conforming to shape making it easier to change positions and remains cooler, breathable and well balanced promoting proper spine alignment.
100% latex mattresses are made from natural and synthetic material blends and vary greatly from 100% natural latex mattresses. The former is less durable and more prone to breakdown over time; the latter is made from botanicals (natural latex) and is very resilient, hardy and 100% biodegradable.
Natural latex is the trend for going green due to natural materials and prolonged lifespan, and benefits allergy sufferers due to the naturally occurring antimicrobial, dust mite and hypoallergenic properties.
If you prefer to splash out a little on a long-term investment, then 100% natural latex mattresses’ long lifespan will reward you with twenty year on average better night’s sleep.
Being the newer generation of mattresses, it does not hold a long track record in terms of accurate judgment and some may find it heavy, especially when changing linens or moving the bed.
It is considered very pricey compared to other mattress types, and should consider yourself a pioneer when buying a latex mattress.
Mattresses in general and the more advanced memory foam and latex mattresses have evolved sleep, as we know it today. Considering the demands on life and stresses of everyday life, sleeping has matured into a complex trend, where sleepers are now demanding a more sound night’s sleep in a more luxurious sleeping environment. Finding the right mattress in today’s competitive and confusing market is an essential process in finding the right mattress that works for you.
