Sleep is in, Parties are out

Do you prefer to have a good night’s sleep rather than go and party? Don’t worry you are not the only one!  New polls from Canada show that more people would rather go to sleep than go to parties. 

Increasing work and family pressure have taken their toll on people, with more than a quarter of people surveyed saying that they went to work tired every day. Women are under more pressure and as such more than double the number of women compared to men suffer from a lack of sleep. 

Not surprisingly, families with children got less sleep than those without children, with no children families getting on average 25 minutes of sleep more than those with children. 

Contrary to expectations, the majority of young people aged between 18 and 24 also put sleeping before partying, with 55% of them opting for a night in bed.


Studies have shown that working while tired can: 

  • Damage productivity, vigilance and performance
  • Hamper decision making skills and interpersonal skills
  • Increase errors of judgement and forgetfulness
  • Increase workplace accidents and medical costs
