How To Care For Your Mattress

August 30, 2013

Your mattress is without a doubt one of the most important purchases that you’ll ever make in your life, luckily with today’s bed and mattress technology you don’t have to make it all that often, but it is still good to know how to look after it.

It may sound like it is a lot of work to care for your mattress, but the truth be told it is in fact rather simple. The first thing you that will need to do is buy a mattress protector (we have them available in store), this will allow you to protect your mattress from stains and other damage. It will also help keep your mattress warranty intact.

Did you know? Besides giving you peace of mind, your mattress warranty is also an asset. This is because a manufacturer’s warranty is important if something is wrong with your mattress. Remember however that this warranty becomes completely void if there is a single stain on the mattress.

Other than protecting your warranty and your mattress from stains, many of the better mattress protectors also have bed bug shields. These are particularly useful for B&B or Hotel owners who constantly have unknown people sleeping on their establishments beds.

Mattress Care Tips

Never, ever have your mattress dry cleaned! This is because the chemicals in the process can damage all of he components inside the mattress.  If you get a stain on your mattress, don’t use any chemical sprays to get the stain out, simply read the manufacturer’s tags on the mattress for instructions on what to do to remove stains.

If you love to eat breakfast in bed, remember to once in awhile lightly vacuum the top of your mattress. This will ensure that any food debris that get left behind do not remain in the bed.

Although this is an American video, if you would like to learn more about caring for your mattress this is a great watch!
