How Does A Mattresses Age Effect Sleep?May 26, 2013
If you’ve ever been told by a friend or family member that a “worn in” mattress is more comfortable than a new one, then you better take a look at the survey results released by Furniture Today and their research partner, Apartment Therapy.
New Mattresses Are Better Mattresses
The survey used a better sleep score and the newer mattresses came out with higher sleep satisfaction scores than older mattresses each and every time. This data is important, because most bed and mattress buyers hold onto their old mattresses for longer than what is good for their healthy sleep patterns. These findings in fact, make a clear case that regular mattress replacement will invariably lead to better sleep.
Applying the findings
One of the biggest challenges that both the local South African as well as the international mattress and bedding industry faces is the need to convince consumers that they should replace a worn out sleep set, not simply for the benefit of repeat sales, but for actual healthy sleep reasons. Thankfully research and survey data like this makes for a compelling case and it will hopefully help people see the necessity for regular mattress replacement.
