Get Your Bedroom Summer Ready

December 18, 2014

Summer is finally upon us which means it’s time for fresh ideas! And there is nothing as refreshing as a change, so alter your decor as you get ready for the Christmas season. As they say, a change is as good as a holiday!

Here are some tips that are bound to bring a breath of fresh air to your bedroom.

Create A Sitting Corner

A cozy corner to relax in can change the atmosphere of your bedroom. Consider a small couch or if you’re looking for a more exotic option, how about a hanging chair or a hammock? It’s the ideal summery place to curl up with a book and set your imagination free.

Incorporate Fresh Colours For Summer

Whites, neutral earth tones, cool greys, pale blues, mint and duck’s egg are the colours of the season. These soft, cool colours are versatile and will turn your bedroom into an inviting haven on those scorching days. Don’t want to redo your entire bedroom? Pick colours that complement your colourscheme and add a strategic scatter pillow, a new lamp shade or a nice rug.

Welcome In Fresh Air

Let in a cool evening breeze on those warm summer nights by leaving your windows open. Natural air will help you wake up refreshed in the morning. Add a mosquito net to your bed to keep all the bugs at bay. It will keep you safe from harm and add a fanciful, tropical island holiday feel to your boudoir.

Go Green

Use low-maintenance solar jars as nightlights in your room. Not green enough? Grow some thyme in pretty pots on your windowsill. These little plants will make your space smell wonderful and liven up your room – quite literally! Feel like you woken up in a meadow or a cabin in the woods with the fragrance of fresh herbs first thing in the morning.

Change Things Up

Lighten up your space by trying mismatched nightstands or lampshades. You might like a more whimsical style, while your partner prefers a masculine look. Why not make the master bedroom a playful space that is inviting to both you and your significant other?

Make Space

The more space you have in your bedroom the cooler and more relaxing and welcoming it will be. Create space by adding floating shelves, storage under your bed, or by installing a wall bed that can fold away!
