Consequences of Poor Sleep for Children

Wrapping up our month long focus on children and teenager’s sleep, here is the top five consequences of not getting enough sleep that can affect children and teenagers:

1. Memory:

A lack of sleep can affect children’s ability to learn and reduce their short term memory.

2. Skin:

Poor sleep can negatively affect your skin and lead to pimples and other skin problems.

3. Aggression:

Not having enough sleep can cause you to lose your temper quickly. It can also make you lash out at friends or cause other inappropriate behaviour.

4. Weight:

Over-tiredness can play havoc with your appetite, causing you to eat too much, or to crave sugary fattening foods.

5. Health:

Being tired can not only reduce your reaction times, making driving or using equipment dangerous, but it can have contribute to illness

Make sure that you and your children get the best night’s sleep with a good mattress.
