Bedroom Makeovers on a Budget

In todaý’s economy it pays to be frugal. But that being said there are plenty of little hacks that can be adopted to give a facelift to a tired bedroom. It’s amazing how a little can in fact go a very long way when it comes to spending money on revamping certain areas in your house. Here are a few ideas that will turn your bedroom from a drab to inspired.

Clear clutter - Nothing creates a new flow of life and energy than a quick clear out. Get rid of old clothes, broken ornaments and things that are just taking up space. All too often we get too busy and distracted with daily life to stop, take stock and get rid of things. Make the time to do this and feel fresh and light in your space again.

Change things up - Moving your bedroom around is a great way to get a new perspective. Change the position of the bed, move the dresser. A new bedroom arrangement is as good as a new bedroom, and the best thing about this is it is absolutely free!

New Linen - While this does involve a small cost, it really does make the world of difference. A new set of bed linen can completely change the look and feel of your bedroom. This is a very simple, cost effective way of making a big statement in your bedroom. Go from blah to wow as fast as it takes to change the duvet cover.

Pillow Talk - What better way to breathe new life into your bedroom than with new bedding. New pillows can make the world of difference not only to how your bed looks when it is made, but also to the quality of sleep you get. Afterall, there is more to a bedroom revamp than just looking good!

Headboard Heaven - Recovering and existing headboard can totally change the way your bedroom looks. If you are still using the same headboard you had when you first moved out of home there no need to ditch it, Find bright fabric and simply recover it. For an extra special pop try having it deep buttoned - this makes it look much more plush, and expensive. If you don’t have a headboard consider painting a faux one on the wall. You can get stencils or simply draw one in pencil and paint over it. This is a fun and non permanent way to add some creativity to the bedroom, and won’t cost the earth.

Revamp an old favourite - instead of getting rid of your existing bedroom furniture consider upcycling it. Paint it a new colour, paint it several new colours. Be creative and coordinate your bedroom furniture with what you already have. Make a feature pieces that will pop and give your bedroom a fresh new look and all you have to do is buy some paint and put some elbow grease into it. Another great idea is to use wallpaper, but be warned once you start you won’t want to stop.

Wonder Wall - You have a blank wall and are not too sure what to do with it. Why not make it a feature wall. Buying art is a very expensive and sometimes torturous journey to embark on. Instead of breaking the bank simply paint or wallpaper one wall in your bedroom to living things up and create a brand new look.

Can you handle this? - Want to breathe new life into an old dresser? How about some new handles to brighten things up? There are so many gorgeous handles out there that you really can make an old piece look new just by changing the ironmongery.

Window dressing - Something as simple as new bedroom blinds chang make such a difference. There are lots of places that sell fabric offcuts. Find a supplier near you and go exploring. Find something fun and funky that will dress up your room and make you the envy of all your friends.

Colour me bad - A fresh coat of paint is sometimes all it takes to give new life to an old room. Choose a calming colour that goes with your existing bedroom items and see what a difference it makes.
